Road riding to the sounds of gunfire

I'm currently in Fayetteville, NC, home of the 82nd Airborne. For my last couple of road rides, I've been riding on the back roads of Fort Bragg. It's surprisingly fun riding; Long stretches of road extend through uninhabited tracts of land. The only traffic is Humvees and those ginormous military vehicles that you see on Headline News (my lieutenant buddy says they are called LMTVs, whatever that stands for). Even better, I am continually distracted from the pain of road biking by the sound of gunfire as I ride past artillery ranges. Usually it's just rifles and machine guns, but every so often I hear (and feel) a solid BOOM! as they shoot off one the Big Guns. And the other day I got up close and personal with a helicopter as it buzzed along not 30 feet above me, following the roadway as if it were having an identity crisis and forgot it was a copter, not a car. Sweet.
