Briefly (I have to get to my first day of work!), I spent the weekend in the Sangre de Cristo range attempting to climb Challenger Point and Kit Carson, two of Colorado's high points. The aspen were in full turn, and when the sun hit the yellow leaves, it was as though the sun was on the earth. Unfortunatly, the sun hadn't hit the north slope as much as I would have liked. The mountian was still buried in snow, three foot deep. So I snapped a few pictures of this cairn, and enjoyed a night on the mountain by myself. I woke up in the morning to frost on everything, and a very icy trail down. Thankfully the ice on the trail melted as I descended, turning the trail into a veritable river.
Strange that I had a mountain to myself on a Saturday night. At first it was rather lonely, but as I settled in, I enjoyed it.
