Dispatch from the Great White North

Hey all, I've just recovered from an extended weekend back in Ho-town, Michigan. I flew in on Wednesday, just in time for the Winter Carnival festivities to began. Not familiar with Winter Carnival? Imagine Mardi Gras in the snow, snow statues the size of houses and more detailed than a wedding cake, bizarre sporting events (broomball?), and massive amounts of drinking.

Let me just summarize my days: Eat breakfast at noon, nordic ski, possibly eat dinner, certainly drink, and go to bed in the wee hours of the morning, only to be repeated the next day. Let me make it even shorter:

Eat, ski, drink, sleep. Repeat.

I didn't get more than five hours of sleep any night I was there.

It rocked!

I also bought my very own set of Nordic skis from the guys at Cross Country Sports while I was in Michigan. Previously I had to beg for equipment from family members, friends, or total strangers. Not that the new equipment stopped me from only seeing the backsides of my good friends Joe and Lumberg. I think my form has a long ways to go.
Speaking of Joe, he did a much better write up of the bike race than I could. Bike race, in winter, you say? Oh yes, the depths of winter. As in my fingers were frozen inside my massive gloves. But that's what we get for racing bikes at midnight in 7F temperatures. Check out the full report on Joe's blog: http://joefromtb.blogspot.com/index.html

What, did you expect a picture of riding bikes at midnight in February to be in centered and in focus? We were racing for a 30 pack of PBR, for Pete's sake!
