I'm a Dirt Ragger, not a Mountain Bike Action-er

I was contemplating the multitude of mountain biking publications out there, and I've realized that I like some more than others. Recently I discovered Decline, but I feel a little out-of-place (read: poser) reading a magazine targeted specifically for the downhiller/freeride crowd. Anyone who has seen me at the dirt jumps or pump track can attest to my not-so-awesome skills.
Mountain Bike Action? This isn't going to make me any friends, but let me sum up what every article says: If you don't ride a 4-5" travel trailbike, you're stupid. Period.
Dirt Rag? A refreshing breath of air after MBA. Their articles seem to say: You ride a trailbike? Cool. You ride a singlespeed 29er? Great. You commute on a cyclocross bike? Perfect. You welded your bike out of tire irons and motorcycle wheels? Oooh--send us a picture! The folks at Dirt Rag seem to just love bikes. And they spread the love via print and sweet artwork.
Of course, I may be a little biased, since my good friend Lumberg interned at Dirt Rag this summer. But he hasn't told me yet to buy a trailbike.

Right on! Also, for those who don't know, old Dirt Rag makes excellent bathroom reading material. On occasion, I've been known to 'sit it out' for a whole article.

Cheers!

Thanks man! Old Dirt Rags hold a place of honor on the back of our toilet as well.
Though it's quite the dilemma to be inspired to go ride when your pants are at your ankles!

when i first got into biking i used to subscribe to four or five magazines. after i finally realized that the articles in most of them (bicycling, mba, etc.) appeared to get "recycled" after a year or two i dropped all but two. Dirt Rag and Velonews made the cut, and i anxiously await their arrival each month. i read them virtually cover to cover, and both are filled up with cool things about bikes that interest me. when my three year deal with Dirt Rag expires i will most certainly opt for the lifetime subscription. take care.

Yeah, you got it. DIRTRAG all the way. Velonews is the shit also. It's my goal to get in both. I've already gotten my pic. in dirtrag, but no name attached. Also the time I actually finished a big race in the top 10 they didn't run the results. Looks like I'll just have to race faster.
